Kahua for Gmail plugin - Install and Authorize

The Kahua for Gmail plugin allows you to quickly and easily push email communications from Gmail to the Kahua platform. These communications then become part of the permanent project record. 

 

Kahua for Gmail™ allows Gmail™ users to take any email and send it to the Kahua Platform.  With the Kahua for Gmail plugin, users can:

* Add the email to their Messages app

* Add the email to the Communications app

* Add the email to any other specified app like Punch List, RFIs, Change Orders and more!

Note that the Kahua for Gmail plug-in is currently not supported for users whose Google profile is associated with a non-U.S. country.

 

Review the following steps for installing and authorizing the Kahua for Gmail plugin:

 

 

There are two admin settings related to the Kahua for Gmail plugin.  To access them, complete the following steps:

  1. Navigate to Apps > Administration > Domain Settings > Domain Defaults.
  2. Scroll to the bottom of the page to access the GMAIL PLUGIN SETTINGS section.

  3. Review the two available settings:
    • Allow the use of the Gmail plugin from email accounts that do not match the Kahua login – Select this option to allow users who have a Gmail account that is different than the email account they log in to Kahua with, to use the Gmail plugin on that Gmail account.   
    • Expire user sessions after # minutes –  Enter the length of time, in minutes, that a user session should be valid for.
  4. Click Save to save any changes.

 

Install the Kahua for Gmail plugin

 

Each end user must install the plugin to their own Gmail account.  To install the Kahua for Gmail plugin, complete the following steps:

  1. Open your Gmail account. Select the Get Add-ons icon on the side panel.  If the Gmail side panel is not visible, select Show side panel from the lower right corner.

  2. Enter “Kahua” in the Search for apps bar and select the Kahua for Gmail application.

  3. Click Install to install the application.

  4. You will be prompted to select an account.  Select the appropriate Gmail account.  

    Note that if this is not the account that you use to log in to Kahua with, the Allow the use of the Gmail plugin from email accounts that do not match the Kahua login setting for your domain must be enabled by your domain administrator for the plugin to work correctly.

  5. Continue through the process, allowing the application access to your Gmail account.  You will receive a confirmation message once the installation is complete.

  6. The Kahua for Gmail icon will appear on the toolbar on the right side of the page.

Complete the authorization process

 

  1. To begin the authorization process, open an email message and select the Kahua for Gmail icon.   Select Authorize access.

  2. A Kahua authorization page appears.  Enter your email address and click Next.



  3. Continue with the sign-on process.  If a warning message about pop-ups being blocked appears, select to allow pop-ups and continue with the sign-on process.  




  4. When complete, a success message may appear.  Close the message.  The plugin is now connected to your Kahua account. 

 

Uninstall the Kahua for Gmail plugin


To uninstall the Kahua for Gmail plugin, complete the following steps:

  1. Open the Kahua for Gmail plugin by selecting the Kahua icon on the Gmail side panel.
  2. Click the More actions ellipsis and select Manage add-on.
  3. Select Uninstall.
