Requesting a VPN Connection to the Data Store

This article provides instructions for requesting a VPN connection to the Data Store for DevX and Production environments.

TABLE OF CONTENTS

Requesting a VPN connection for DevX environments

Access to the Data Store in DevX environments requires a connection to the Kahua VPN using the Azure VPN client application. When configured properly, this is a split VPN which means only traffic to select Kahua servers should travel through the data store, and other internet traffic should not be impacted when connecting to the VPN.

VPN connection with Azure VPN client is meant to provide access to the Data Store for development of reports, testing, etc. in development environments and is not meant for production use as it is not configured with the same level of bandwidth and security as a site-to-site VPN.

To request credentials for an Azure VPN connection, enter a ticket at support.kahua.com as follows:

  • Ticket Type: Data/Access Request
  • Category: Administrative
  • Subcategory: Data Store
  • Subject: "AnyConnect VPN request for <Person’s name> with email address <Person’s Company email address>"
  • Description: "Please provide AnyConnect VPN account credentials for <Person’s name> with email address <Person’s Company email address>." Be sure to note that the request is for a DevX environment.

Requesting a VPN connection for Production environments

For production access to the Data Store, a site-to-site VPN is required in order to provide secure access to production Data Store data. There is a setup fee required for a site-to-site VPN, which typically requires some discussions between Kahua and your IT staff in order to ensure compatibility between networking equipment and proper configuration. A Cisco AnyConnect VPN connection can also be used to connect to the production data store, but only for reporting/analytics development. The Cisco AnyConnect VPN connections are not intended for routine/daily user access to the production data store.

Note that a VPN is not needed between the Production Data Store and Kahua for things like Data Store reports in Kahua and Kahua Analytics. A site-to-site VPN in Production is only needed in cases where data from the Kahua Data Store is going to be accessed by third party applications outside of Kahua.

To begin this process, please download and complete the form at the end of this article and submit a support.kahua.com ticket as detailed below.
